In Historic Downtown Liberty, there is a special shop called D’Agee & Co Florist filled with flowers and various decor. But customers aren’t the only ones roaming the shop, there are cats as well.
“I’ve heard about the cats they have at their store and also their decor is very pretty! I think my family would like their candles and fragrances,” sophomore Arielle Mauna-Jones said.
The cats, Gunner and Cole, were strays and now reside at the store, they’ve been there for a couple of years. Now they’ve given D’Agee a more positive atmosphere.
“The storefront was for sale in 2002, but the business was established in 1964. I’ve had the store for 22 years and I’ve been a florist for 42 years,” owner Brenda Toates said.
Their cats aren’t the only reason to visit however, every inch of space is filled with, now fall themed, decorations, flowers and plants, and even candles.
“My mom has a big garden encompassing our house and takes great care of flowers. As long as the quality is good, I think their plants would make a great gift,”sophomore Conner Ciesiensky said.
D’Agee & Co Florist has bouquets and plants for many occasions; anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, whatever comes to mind. Along with gifts and decorations like signs, wreaths, and lots of other knick knacks to fill plenty of shelves.
“I think the cats could definitely attract more customers because they’re animals and most people love to see these creatures. It can also bring younger audiences to the shop,” Mauna-Jones said.
