On October 25,2011 the members of the student ambassador club held a breakfast to help welcome the new students to Liberty North high school. The student ambassadors provided a pancake breakfast for the new students and introduced themselves as an easily accessible option for the new students if they need any help.
After breakfast the students played a quick game in order to make new friends and get to know new people. Following the game, the student ambassadors sat down in groups with the new students and helped to see how they were transitioning into the new school.
“It really surprised me how many options there are in this school, it’s so big in comparison to my old school,” Senior Quinn Thompson said. Thompson is a new student that just moved from Idaho. It was a clear trend among new students to be surprised by the amount of class options that Liberty North provides for their students.
“The different kinds of people was the biggest transition for me, this school is so diverse that it caught me off guard,” Sophomore Travis Barnett said. Barnett just transferred to Liberty North from Excelsior Springs and although the two schools aren’t that different in terms of population, Barnett says that Liberty North holds a lot more groups and cliques.
At the end of the day, the student ambassadors consider the new student breakfast to be a major success, and hope that the new students enjoyed it as well. With Liberty North growing at the rate that it is, it’s nice to give our new students a place where they can meet new people and further transition themselves into the school, the new student breakfast is a tradition that student ambassadors hopes to uphold in the years to come.
