This year the Liberty North Model UN team, led by teacher of the year Kurt.Gates went to Boston to participate in HUMUN (Harvard University Model United Nations). While there, we got to explore the beautiful town of Boston. This included going to see the Boston Public library, which is full of marble and breathtaking murals from the original library. The other side of the library is more modern, and where you can find all the books from this day and age. Another adventure we went on was the Freedom Walking trail, where we followed the Red Brick Road all over downtown Boston getting to see Common Man’s Park, the state capital, and Quincy Hall. As for food, the food was delicious and great for seafood lovers! My personal favorite was the Central Perk Cafe we went to one morning. The actual conference was very cool because these were the largest committees I’ve ever worked in. My committee included over 300 people, for just one committee. We made speeches and debated with people. Another special part of the conference was meeting people from all over the world. There were students from Venezuela, Brazil, Tunisia, China, Lebanon, Greece, and many other countries. Over all this trip was amazing! I had a great time making friends, exploring the historical sights, and working on my public speaking.
