Softball
The softball team finished with an overall record of 15-12. Some of the most memorable wins of their season were against Ray-Pec, Tonka, and Pleasant Hill. The Lady Eagles lost to Tonka in the first game of districts on October 3 ending their season. “Our season was very challenging. We faced the best competition we have ever faced. Even so, we handled it pretty well and ended above 500, like we wanted to,” junior Katelynn Downey said.
Girl’s Tennis
The Lady Eagle Tennis team finished with an overall record of 7-5. Sophomore Gretchen Ohlhausen won the Individual District Tennis Tournament title in Singles and also received All-District Honors. “I’m really proud of the way the team played this season, everyone improved so much since last year, and the team has really grown. We could have ended it better, but we still have next year to look forward to,” Ohlausen said.
Cross Country
The boys and girls cross-country season has not yet come to a close. Liberty North qualified both teams, boys and girls, for the State meet on November 3rd, with the girls placing five runners in the top 14 and the boys placing five in the top 16. The girl’s team took second at districts led by Sammy Laurenzo and Stephanie Boan who took second and third respectively. The boy’s team won their first District title, behind Ty Hughes who won the race. “My goal for state is to place in the top four. We want to bring home a trophy, and have a spot on the podium,” junior Ty Hughes said.
Football
As of right now the football team has a record of 6-4.They won their first district game on Thursday October 25 against St. Joe Lafayette. They are set to play Platte County on Halloween, Wednesday October 31. “Some of our best wins so far have been against Park Hill South on homecoming, and also Platte County the first time we played them. Our goal for post season is to win state,” senior Jase Willhite said.
Women’s Golf
Overall the women’s golf time was very satisfied with how their season turned out. Mary-Kate Duffin and Grace Brown both advanced to sectionals in the post season. Mary-Kate Duffin then made it to the State tournament for the second year in a row. “My favorite match was against Park Hill South at the Deuce. The team got really close and we just joked and laughed and it was a great bonding experience, I will probably remember that forever. I loved how close we became this season,” senior Mary-Kate Duffin said.
Men’s Soccer
The men’s soccer team will begin post-season play Tuesday October 30 against Northeast High School. Their record going into districts is 14-1-1. “Some of our big wins this year were against Platte County, and also winning the Summit Christian tournament. Our goals for districts are to win districts but we want to play our system and apply things that we have been working on in practice in the games we have left,” senior Zac Kernell said.
Men’s Swim and Dive
The Liberty North Boys Swim and Dive team competed in the conference championship over the weekend. The team’s captains, Senior Kyle Martin and Junior Cole Roberts, both won two events each and broke conference records in their respective events, led the team. In addition, the 400 Free Relay of Senior Jordan Went, Junior Nick Roofener, Martin and Roberts took first while also qualifying for state. The boy’s team will now focus on the State Championship in St. Peters on Nov 9-10. “My biggest accomplishment was winning conference and setting two new conference records. My goals for state is to get top five, or hopefully win state,” senior Kyle Martin said.
Volleyball
The volleyball team had an overall very successful season with a final record of 19-9-3. They also tied for first in the Small Six Suburban Conference with a record of 8-2. “Some of our best wins were beating Platte County and Winnetonka. We beat Platte County three times in a row and it is unusual to beat a team three times in a row. We also beat Tonka on their senior night. Our biggest accomplishment though was splitting the conference title with Kearney. Overall the season was great and we worked together as a team and accomplished many great things,” senior Brittany Moore said.
