Counseling Cauldron
On October 26, the Counselors Cauldron was in full swing, giving students the option to participate in activities during their flex to get in the Halloween spirit.
“The activities we had were a spooky spelling bee, Halloween trivia, Halloween pumpkin coloring station, and meet Johnny Francis, who was dressed up,” student counselor Emily Schmitt said.
Johnny Francis, Liberty North’s new service dog, was dressed as a pumpkin, wearing an orange hat along with a pumpkin bandana. Francis also chewed on a bone shaped as a stem to fit the part and keep him entertained. Once hearing of these fun activities, students started to arrive.
“At the beginning of the day it was a little slow which is normal, but since then, we had quite a few more kids participate, enough that we had to buy more candy,” Schmitt said.
This was a fun time for students to interact with their friends and counselors alike.
“We just love interacting with the kids. Sometimes it is hard for us to get out of the office, so that is why we do things like this. It is just exciting to see kids out here, talk to them casually, and have fun with them,” Schmitt said.
Though the fun has to come to an end once the school day ended, this isn’t the only event taking place this semester during Flex. Key Club will make cards for veterans on November 3. On November 7, Kindness Klub will create dog toys for KC Pet Project. The library will bring board games for students and teachers on November 22. To close off the semester, Kindness Klub will be making holiday cards on December 5.
