Edgar Allan Poe was brought to life by the Coterie Theatre in the Performing Arts Center at Liberty North on Wednesday, February 21. Poe’s short stories and writings were explored through acting and surrounding sounds.
“It was really nice to be able to see the story on stage. I have learned about his pieces for so several years, but I was finally able to understand them better through the acting performed,” Junior Shellby Bartlett said.
The stage was set with only three large props and only one main actor. In order to cause the viewer to use more sensory imaging, there were electrical sounds used when called for within the writing. There were also background sounds used to set the mood of the stage.
“All of the sounds that were played during the performance helped the feelings of the viewer grow,” Senior Micaela Patterson said.
