This year’s homecoming theme is “Under the Big Top” so it only makes sense that our spirit week dress up days were circus related. Spirit week is a chance for students to show their school pride the week before homecoming by dressing up in crazy clothes every day.
“I love this week because it is so much fun to show our school spirit and get dressed up. We get to have a good time while supporting our school,” freshman Gage Thompson said.
For many students, spirit week is the highlight of the beginning of the year.
“I really like spirit week because you get to dress crazy every day and it gets everyone excited for homecoming. It really sets the mood,” sophomore Addie Paulson said.
Kicking off spirit week was Monday’s theme of “First Time at the Circus.” Students were supposed to wear baby clothes and little kid attire. Tuesday continued with “Running off to Join the Circus” where everyone was encouraged to wear tattered clothing and/or mix and match different items. “Clowning around with the Circus” was Wednesday’s theme and there were many students in bright colors and clown apparel walking around the hallways. Students brought out their inner animal on Thursday’s “Bring out the Animals” day with animal print and cat ears. To end the week was “The Greatest Show on Earth” and all the classes wore their assigned colors to show their school spirit the night of the big game.
“My favorite spirit day this week was clown day because I loved seeing everyone all dressed up with wigs and crazy makeup,” sophomore Emily Chapman said.
While there is no doubt that all the themes are fun, students can’t help but have a favorite day that they go all out for.
“My favorite spirit day this week was animal day because it was fun to dress up in a costumes like your favorite animal,” junior Jessica Moore said.
