Spring Cleaning
Ah, spring. The best time of the year: besides the runny noses and sore throats, of course.
Along with the curse of allergies comes the dreaded spring cleaning. Cleaning doesn’t always have to be dull, however. Here are a few tips to make spring cleaning something to look forward to every year.
- Make a goal and go for it. Whether it be to rearrange your entire bedroom or to simply do your laundry, setting small goals makes the overall process fly by. You can even reward yourself by indulging in a scoop of ice cream every time you complete a goal. Regardless, goals are the way to go!
- Jam out. Who says cleaning has to be boring?”I make it more enjoyable by listening to music,” senior Hannah Haines said. Whether you’re re-organizing your bedroom or dusting the floorboards of you bathroom, create an awesome playlist and blast that music! (When your parents aren’t home, of course).
- Open the windows. I always find refreshment in the crisp, sweet air of spring. I always love feeling the breeze through my hair as I’m constantly bending over to pick up my clothes from the floor.
- Stay committed. I think we have all been there before: started cleaning, made a little progress, and then gave up after 30 minutes. But don’t be discouraged! Just take care of one area of the room at a time, don’t overdue it! Lilly Sieren even suggests only cleaning when absolutely necessary and not worrying about getting it all done in one weekend. “Honestly, I’m not into waiting for a specific season to clean. If it’s dirty, I take care of it!” senior Lilly Sieren said.
- Keep calm and clean on! If you’re anything like me, you’re probably thinking, “Come on. There’s no way to make cleaning enjoyable.” You might be right: but, stay positive. Just keep going! The process of cleaning may not be super fun, but the feeling afterward is so rewarding.
