On Monday December 11th Liberty Norths Orchestras had another concert called Festival of Strings, where elementary through high school Orchestras kids gathered to put on a concert for each other and their families.
“The concert was for all of the high school orchestras at LN, the middle school orchestras from HMS and SVMS, and half of the elementary school players. We actually didn’t have this concert for a few years just because of the concerns around covid but we recently started doing it again. This was technically our Christmas concert this year but we usually host this in the spring. We held the concert in the gym because along with all the students we also had all the orchestra teachers there to conduct and we had lots of parents come too,” junior Natalie Coleman said.
Coleman talks about how this concert is different from all the others.
“It’s different because everyone from the Liberty North side of the district is playing and the younger players get to hear what the high school orchestra sounds like. We use this concert to endorse staying in the orchestra just by showing the kids all the fun stuff they will get to do and play one day. But something I’ve found cool about this is that we also got to hear the elementary schoolers play a few pieces, and then the 6th graders and so on until we do a combined song at the end,” Coleman said.
Since all the orchestra kids don’t see each other everyday to prepare for the concert they have to get creative. Senior Brijet Sun talks about how they prepared for this special concert.
“We prepared by doing 2 combined rehearsals after school as well as the day of the concert the elementary kids came in and rehearsed with us in the gym. But behind the scenes we also had people set up the gym in the morning for everyone got there,” Sun said
