A festival of nesting? Not exactly. LNHS Student Council puts on Nest Fest, the annual homecoming carnival. Thursday, September 19th, from 6:00-8:30pm will begin a night of Eagle pride as Homecoming creeps in. Open to all people, big and small, Nest fest allows for an evening of fun activities and spending quality time with family or friends.
“LNHS began Pomp-It-Up Spirit Night (commonly referred to as Pomp Night) during its inaugural Homecoming in 2010. In an effort to better reflect the spirit of the night, the name has been changed to Nest Fest.” STUCO advisor, Ms. Plaster said.
This is a FREE event, which is open to all community members. Teachers, students, family and friends are all encouraged to participate.
“Highlights of the evening include the introduction of the 2013 Homecoming Court and the LNHS Homecoming skit. The skit will feature performances by the LNHS Screaming Eagles Band and Color Guard, the LNHS cheerleaders and Golden Girls dance team, and will also showcase the acting talents of many LNHS students.” Plaster explained.
Red Robin is catering this event. A meal includes a burger, chips, and a drink, all for five dollars. A variety of activities will be available during this time as well. Different teams of Liberty North sponsor these activities.
“Nest Fest features games and activities for kids of all ages. These games and activities are free and are sponsored by LNHS clubs, activities, academic departments, and athletic teams.” Plaster said.
This night of fun and festivities will kick off the Homecoming weekend with a big bang.
“I strongly encourage everyone to go to Nest Fest. It will be a really fun night filled with food and fun activities.” sophomore, Asma Hassan said.
Open up the calendar and come to Liberty North High school this Thursday for some pre Homecoming fun.
“Make plans to come home to the nest and celebrate the beginning of the Homecoming Weekend at this year’s Nest Fest!” Plaster said.
