Interact clubs are all over the world, they are used to help young people develop a love for service and helping others. Interact club is a great place to help out the community and provide activities for anyone and North is lucky to have their very own Interact club.
“Interact Club is a rotary-sponsored club here at Liberty North that focuses on community service. including hosting tables and activities at Nest Fest and Trunk-or-Treat. We work very closely with the Liberty chapter of our parent organization, Rotary International, and often participate in service events with them,” Interact club leader Abby Swearingin said.
Interact club doesn’t just stop there though, they work at organizations that go outside of just the Liberty area and even those that help around the world
“We participate in lots of service projects around Liberty like working with the Liberty Rotary Club to hand out coffee at the Liberty Farmer’s Market, and we also work with bigger organization like Feed Northland Kids to fill bags of food for those who can’t afford it, and Days For Girls, an organization that provides feminine hygiene products and education to girls in 3rd world countries that don’t have access to appropriate education and products,” Swearingin said.
Interact club doesn’t just stop at helping people during the school year, they also do their best to help during summer too, providing a chance for the club members who are passionate to help out during a summer camp.
“There’s this community camp that we do over the summer, they’ll look at what you’ve done over the year, and look for those who are the most passionate about service to help out. It’s a great opportunity to become more involved in community service while having fun,” freshman Josh Jones said.
Interact club is a great source of help around the community and the world, helping them gain become more service orientated, while being able to have fun and make friends along the way.
“The basic principle of the club is our motto, “service above self” which means that we value helping people above our own wants. Interact encourages students to get involved in the community, promotes cultural and international understanding, and gives students a place to experience scholarship, fun, service, and friendship while helping others,” Swearingin said.
