Start to School Memories: Blacklight Blowout

Reminiscing on LN’s 11th Blacklight Blowout Dance

High School isn’t all about academics, it is also about having fun with friends at events like the Blacklight Blowout.

“I would go again because it is a super fun way to get out there and hang out with other people from school that you might not always see at school,” sophomore Hailey McDowell said.

This was the eleventh annual blacklight blowout dance. It started in 2010 and Student Council was not able to throw one in 2020 because of Covid-19.

“Since the pandemic happened, the seniors asked to have one last blacklight blowout in the spring before graduation. Now the dance is back to its regular time in the fall,” Student Council Adviser Lindsey Plaster said.

For this being the perfect year to start the blacklight blowout again, the dance turnout was even better than the year before.

“I would one hundred percent go again, it was extremely cool to see everyone show up and see everyone having lots of fun,” sophomore Aubrey Coffer said.

With setting up and planning an event like this, stucco worked countless hours planning, decorating the gym, and cleaning up after the dance was over.

“It took us between an hour and a half to two hours to set everything up and clean after the dance. Many Student Council members have been planning this since the very beginning of the school year,” freshman Alyssa Flener said.
