Cross Town Collaboration

Starting this year, Liberty North has started a program allowing students from Liberty High to take the advanced AP Seminar course at LNHS. Mrs. Jennifer Bilen is one of the many teachers here with the ability to work with Liberty High students, providing them with the opportunity to take AP Seminar.

“I think it’s great we can give kids opportunities, I think missing class time isn’t ideal but if it’s what has to happen, so they can take the course. You kinda just have to do what you have to do,” Bilen said.

However, there are positives and negatives that come with every opportunity, this one being the travel time.

“More of the Liberty High students are coming in later and having to leave earlier, so they aren’t in class as long, therefore making it harder to build relationships,” Bilen said.

Besides the conflict of travel, the learning process has remained the same, allowing students to continue to learn and grow as a community.

“I think it’s great we can work with the Liberty High students. It would be nice to see the AP Seminar program grow so that they have those opportunities at their school as well,” Bilen said.
