With the new year coming into full swing, womens tennis has begun a new season, and the reviews have been varied. From the teams point of view tennis is so much more than just a game.
“I like the work in it, like hitting the ball back and forth is very mesmerizing to me, and the fact that it’s a recreational sport, so you can do it forever,” sophomore Reece Vargus said.
This sport tries to make everyone feel included and enjoy their time spent in tennis, trying to make friends and have a friendly game no matter what.
“I enjoy the people the most. It’s a really good environment and we’re all very supportive. And it’s honestly because of all the teamwork, making mistakes and trying to help other people,” junior Serenity Mackin said.
According to the women’s tennis team, even when it’s hot outside the girls try to keep a happy face on and do their best.
“When it gets competitive aggressive with attitudes, you just have to shower them with positive energy, which makes it a better environment. It’s always good to start because the sport is so much fun, anyone could do it forever,’’ Jayla Smith said.
Most people in the world do not like losing and it’s no different for the tennis team. No matter the circumstance it’s hard to lose.
“I’m a very competitive person so it’s hard to adjust to losing more than winning,” Vargus said.
With the season being short the girls ensure that they use all the time they have. The matches scoring can also take part in how long the girls matches are.
“It depends on the people you go against and if they’re good or not, if you keep losing or if you’re on the same level it lasts longer. The scoring goes from love, 15, 30, 40 and then game,” Makin said.
