The North dance team competed at regionals on Saturday, January fourth. By winning first and second place, the team continues to progress.
“Our Pom routine got 1st place and our Lyrical Jazz got 2nd place. I felt pretty good about the placements, I think we worked hard and danced well, and I believe the team works very well together, we have built a relationship and we all share a passion for dance that motivates us to be our best,” junior Mckenna Steffen said.
The team has a positive attitude and a good outlook on working together, keeping a good mindset throughout the competition.
“The team uplifted each other a lot throughout the day and we always have talks before we go on that help. We try to talk to each other and cheer each other on through the dances, which this competition was the best we’ve done. I think our collaboration was great,” senior Olivia Watson said.
Having new people try out each year for the dance team can change the way the team acts together and it could be harder to get to know new people, so having a team with the mutual feeling of wanting to create friendships could help the team at future competitions. Late January at their most recent competition, Varsity won second in pom and third in jazz, along with an outstanding technique award in pom. JV got first in pom and first in jazz.
“I think that all year we have been bonding more and more, and we always know how to pump each other up, work hard for each other, and motivate each other. We have state and nationals in February,” junior Chayce Turner said.
