The 2011 season is coming to a close for the girl’s golf team at Liberty North. The team competed in the conference tournament on Monday, September 26. The team was very successful overall.
“I played pretty decent, but not my best at conference. I shot a 102 and placed 6th out of 28. I’m satisfied with my conference score, although there were many holes that were terrible for me, I knew which mistakes I could have fixed to have a better score,” junior Kylie Callura said.
Other players on the team were pleased with their results as well. “The tournament went pretty well! I scored a 110 and placed 14th overall. I’m satisfied with the outcome of the tournament. Although I ended with one of my highest scores of the season, the team played great as a whole with each of us earning All-Conference honors,” junior Grace Brown said.
After a great showing at conference the girls are all extremely excited for the district tournament at Cardinal Hill, on Wednesday, September 28.
“I hope to perform even better at districts and finish the rest of my season with my best scores,” sophomore Maddie Styhl said.
The girls have high goals for the end of their season. “I want to play well at districts and advance to sectionals next week,” Brown said.
The season can be looked at as a year of great development and improvement in the players. “This year was a pretty good season for the lady eagles compared to last. All the girls, even myself, have gained so much more experience and progressively got better, which is great. We’re becoming a competitive team to others that last year we never thought we could be compared to,” Callura said.
