Senior Olivia Watson has been heavily involved in various extracurriculers that have helped grow herself and her community.
“I think they made high school really enjoyable and taught me a lot about myself. And I’m really glad I have those types of relationships and I think they just let me grow closer to North and my community,” Watson said.
There are multiple activities, clubs, and programs for students to get involved in and Watson has done many, including an internship at the Colleniant Nursing Academy.
“I’m on the dance team and National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, Stuco, Kindness Klub, Stronger Together, Collegian Nursing Academy at Jewel and I dance with precision outside of school. I want to attend either the University of Iowa or the University of MU because they both have pretty good nursing schools and are decently close to home,” Watson said
Dance has been a part of Watsons life for many years including being on North’s dance team. Not only has she learned new physical skills she can use in dance Watson has also learned how to manage her time.
“What I like about the dance program is that it has taught me a lot about myself and what it takes to be a hard worker and be organized. I’ve grown a lot of relationships through it. I balance it all out by just giving myself a schedule. I describe myself as hardworking, organized with time and a flexible person. And I have a lot of self control,” Watson said.
This past fall Watson was crowned Homecoming queen by her older brother Jack Watson.
“The senior class nominated five girls and five guys and I just happened to be nominated. I was really shocked but it was a really special moment when I was nominated and I had a really special moment with my family. I just felt so loved. But I’ve always really liked the dances I’ve been to. Those are fun and I love getting to do them with my friends,” Watson said.
