Athletic Strength Training (AST) is a class designed to help students get physically stronger, prepare for after-school sports, form, improve, and learn a variety of exercises. The class focuses on teaching many different exercises to target various muscle groups and fitness goals. Many people join this class for various reasons.
“I joined AST to better prepare myself for sports and to overall better myself mentally and physically,” senior Kurt Wallace said.
AST is not only helpful health-wise, but also timewise.
“I decided to join AST so I could work out while I was still at school. I feel working out this way is much more time effective,” junior Preston Hemphill said.
In order to ensure that every muscle group is being worked on, there are different exercises every day.
“Each day we do a different “main” lift with a variety of side exercises. This lets me work everything,” Hemphill said.
The purpose of AST is to support growth in all of its students. In order to get things done, people must move fast.
“The environment is very uptempo and high pressure. This is good because it challenges me to keep moving forward,” Wallace said.
