This year Liberty North held their annual Nest Fest event which celebrates homecoming week. Nest Fest is put together and run by STUCO and lets the community join in on the homecoming festivities and see what’s going on at the high school.
“My favorite thing about Nest Fest is connecting with the community and seeing everyone come together to get excited about homecoming,” freshman and cheerleader Gabrielle Bolton said.
The event included school clubs, small business, a dunk tank, and a bounce house. There was also a parade led by the Screaming Eagles Marching Band for the homecoming court. Since it’s an outreach event and the community is included, most clubs have held meetings to decide what they want to do for their booths whether it be activities, games, or crafts.
“Book club prepared for Nest Fest by having meetings to decide on what to do for our booth. Today we have been setting up board games and candy for the kids that come by. We also set up a sign so everyone can see what club we are,” junior and Book Club member Andrew Hodges said.
Though catered to families, Nest Fest is hosted to get students excited about homecoming whose 2023 theme is Disco Fever. There was also a parade led by the Screaming Eagles Marching Band for the homecoming court. This year’s queen candidates are Avary Noblet, Grace Flener, Ava Levings, Kaitlyn Otte, and Maliya Anchondo. The king candidates are Micah Barnett, Cole Young, Trey Snyder, Jack Watson, and Carson Weldy.
“I think it’s a really good court this year, all of the candidates are very kind, respectful people, and are good role models. I bet the votes this year were very close for who would win the crown and be king and queen,” sophomore Preston Eillot said.
