In recent years Christmas decor has sort of begun to deter from what is traditionally associated with christmas. People have been starting to throw in more and more sort of jewel colors such as dark blues, emerald greens, and more berry shades. The decorations are still just as merry, however there have also been more hints at maximalism.
In the UK there has also been an ongoing trend of having two christmas trees, with one being for show and the other being to put presents under. The purpose of this is so that you can have a ‘picture perfect’ tree alongside one that everyone can sort of decorate with more freedom and more for fun.
There has been an increase in people adding things like mushrooms and toadstools to their Christmas decorations. Mushroom shaped lighting has been a big trend this year and as a result it’s been leaking into christmas decor.
People have also started to embrace a sort of vintage charm. Christmas tends to be a nostalgic time of year for us all so why not show that in your decorations? This type of decor is going to include aspects such as retro-style ornaments, vintage toys, classic holiday motifs, along with any silly sort of accents one decides to throw in. The point of this type of decor is to evoke a type of nostalgia.
Pink has also become a big color in this year’s Christmas decorations. This style is oddly reminiscent of Barbie and is somewhat relevant with the fact the Barbie movie has come out this year, this is going to include adding blush pink ornaments, wreaths, and ribbons for a pop of color not usually found within one’s Christmas decor.
This year is revealing a lot of new Christmas decoration trends and it’ll be really exciting to see what else will change in future years too.
