There are many students that are looking for more ways to get involved with school activities this year, and some are stepping out of their comfort zones to do so. Book Club is one way that some students are getting these new experiences, and there are many more that Liberty North also has to offer.
“I would definitely recommend Book Club to others. If you enjoy books, it’s a very fun and casual way to meet new people. They also have flexible hours, which is really nice,” freshman Hayden Neal said.
Book Club generally meets during lunch on every first and third Thursday of the month. It is run by two of our school librarians, Connie King and Katie Fisher, and the six student members in the Book Club Council.
“The council helps with publicity, taking attendance, giving us tasks, and filling us in on things that we currently have going on, such as the many fundraisers we do throughout the year,” freshman Aisosa Eke said.
Seniors Connor Cronin, Grayson Breaux, Victoria Ewiwle, and juniors Jada Myers, Soli Tsegai, and Marley Guichard are all a part of the group that helps to keep the club running smoothly. Members in Book Club have a variety of specific things that they enjoy about it.
“One of my favorite parts about Book Club is that we get first pick on any of the new books that come in. So if you’re an avid reader, you should definitely look into joining,” Eke said.
There are many different reasons that someone may want to join a club, whether that be to get more involved, to build new connections, to meet new people, or solely for the joy that they get from it.
“I joined Book Club because I didn’t know a lot of people that are into reading as much as me, and I wanted a place where I could talk about it more. I have really enjoyed that Book Club makes it so I don’t have to be confined with only other freshmen as much. I get to talk to people of many different ages and connect with them,” Neal said.
