The Black Panther Lives

Hi, I’m Bryson Prindle. I’m a junior here at LNHS and this is Prindle’s Perspective. Here I will talk mostly about things going on with movies, games, and other stuff that I enjoy. You can expect a lot of talk over Fortnite updates, and new Fallout content (Most likely 76), as well as Marvel, DC, and Star Wars movies or tv series.

Today, November 11, marks the day Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is released and I think we should talk about it. We will talk about leaks, theories, new characters, and their comic book counterparts, as well as what the movie will be about. Let’s venture into the jungles of East Africa and take a quick look at this advanced society now in mourning.

August 28, 2020, a sad day for everyone. That date marks the day actor and the MCU’s(Marvel Cinematic Universe) Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, died from colon cancer. When he died MCU fans naturally asked “Who will replace him as Black Panther?”. Some did not want him replaced and said just kill off the character, while others still wanted a Black Panther. Luckily it turned out to work in favor of both. From what we can tell, Black Panther died somewhere between Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther 2, but we don’t know how. Hopefully, they address how it happened in the movie. We also got a new Black Panther but we don’t know who it is. However, many fans suggest Shuri thanks to her time as Black Panther in the comics.

Our new characters in the MCU are Ironheart and Namor. Ironheart is a 15-year-old engineering student. Working alone, she designs a suit of armor similar to the Iron Man Armor using material stolen from campus. She would continue to work on improving the suit. Tony Stark hears about her accomplishments and decides to endorse her decision to become a superhero. Then there’s Namor. The mutant son of a human and a princess of Atlantis, Namor possesses superstrength, aquatic abilities, and the ability to fly, along with other superhuman powers. He has been portrayed as an antihero, alternately as a good-natured but short-fused superhero, or a hostile invader seeking vengeance for perceived wrongs that misguided surface-dwellers committed against his kingdom.

Now Namor and Ironheart will be different for a couple of reasons. For instance, Namor is no longer Atlantean. He is now the king of Talokan, an ancient civilization of underwater-dwelling people connected to the Mayans. This change was made because Marvel didn’t want him to be too similar to Aquaman. Ironheart also gets a slight change since, in the MCU, Iron Man is dead. For those who don’t know, Iron Man died when he stopped Thanos by using the Infinity Stones to wipe The Mad Titan and his army from existence. So obviously Iron Man can’t sponsor her as a superhero. Besides, he already did that with Spider-Man.

Finally, the plot. Black Panther 2 is supposed to be about the leaders of the kingdom of Wakanda and their fight to protect their nation from invading forces in the wake of King T’Challa’s death when a new threat emerges from the hidden undersea nation of Talokan, aka Namor and his army. It will feature new characters like Tenoch Huerta as Namor and Dominique Thorne as Ironheart. As well as returning characters like Letitia Wright as Shuri and Winston Duke as M’baku.

Well, that seems to be it. Now I know most Marvel movies for Phase 4 haven’t been that good, but I think this one will live up to the hype. Besides, there have been some good ones, No Way Home for example. Well, I guess only time can tell. As always have fun and of course, Wakanda forever.
