Kansas City’s Uptown Theater is a beautiful piece of architecture located in Westport. Watching a concert there is truly an experience; intricate detailing in the ceiling and walls makes you think you’re in Italy. On October 7th, a rising K-Pop group, TripleS, performed at Uptown as a stop on their tour. Something unique to K-pop concerts is that they don’t have an opening act and they only have quick outfit changes as breaks-if they change clothes. This really shows their dedication to their job, idols truly enjoy performing and making music and it shows. TripleS is a 24-member girl group under Modhaus Entertainment, something unique to them, is that the members rotate through sub-units and groups. Lovelution, the sub-unit on tour, is composed of 8 members, who recently came out with their album ↀ, comprised of 8 songs the title track being, Girl’s Capitalism. It’s all about empowerment and loving yourself; you can tell the members are passionate about that They performed for about 2 or so hours with only one short break. They also interact with the fans alot, asking questions, and talking about themselves, and they constantly interact with fans. Being able to watch people do what they dream of and are truly passionate about it, is something not everyone gets to experience. To be a part of a community that only wants the best for the artists they love is something I hope everyone can experience. The fans always cheer and sing along and interact with the artists. They are respectful and don’t try to throw things and yell obscenities at them. I love being in a community of people who just want to support the artists they love. Going to concerts dressing up in outfits inspired by the music and being with your friends is incredible. K-Pop concerts are a very different experience compared to artists here. Although it has its bad side, it truly is an amazing community of people who just want to love and support their artists. TripleS enjoys making music which shows, that their songs have heartfelt meanings even if it’s upbeat. If you like music that is empowering or ballads, TripleS is the place to go.
